As a husband, father and a friend protection of my loved ones is a high priority for me.
My interest in firearms started when I was 14 years-old and my friend's father allowed me to shoot his shotgun. It was love at first trigger squeeze. Right from the beginning, I felt I wanted to learn everything and anything about the shooting sports. I went to school the next day and joined Air Force JRROTC. Which I won "Cadet of the Year". At 17 I joined the U.S. Army while still in high school and went to basic training for my 11th grade summer vacation. In the Army I qualified as an Expert Marksmen in Rifle, M-203 Grenade Launcher and other weapons qualification. Later during Desert Shield and Desert Storm the U.S. Army increased the intensity of our training and proficiency in tactical defense to refelect "real world".
Since leaving the Army I found myself attending many different schools and trainings. I went to training facilities around the mid-west and took classes in tactical defense, firearms, and survival. All of the training and experience that I received from those classes has been boiled down and separated into what I offer in the classes I teach.
With the changes we have seen in the last several years I have conditioned myself through training to have a different mindset about self / family defense. Many of my friends have noticed this and would ask me "What kind of gun should I get?" and "Can you teach me about firearms and how to shoot?" or "Can you help me with my emergency plan for my family?". It did not take long to figure out that if I was going to train that I need to be certified. That is when I decided to become a NRA Certified Instructor.
If I can give you just one piece of advice, it would be whether you train with Family Tactical Training or someone else to get trained, get your family trained and continue to do so as long as you own a firearm. I seek out training all of the time and attend a basic firearm training class every year to ensure I don't lose the fundamentals of shooting. I also highly recommend joining the NRA.

I am an NRA member & NRA Certified Instructor, I am also a member of the Ohio Rifle and Pistol Association & the OCGA. I belong to the Greene Co. Fish and Game Association, The American Legion and I am a veteran of the US Army. I am a lifelong rifle & pistol shooter.
The beginning of my instruction began in the boy scouts w/22 rifle shooting, and M1 Garand rifle shooting via the DMC. (now the CMP) I graduated high school and enlisted in the army. I spent three years operating D7 bulldozers & mac ten ton tractors at Ft. Benning GA.
In 1977 I left the army, and secured employment at local Dodge dealership, I then began a 29 year career of vehicle repair & operational management. During these years I also enjoyed the shooting sports as a hobby. I found that instructing young auto tech's, & teaching a new shooter to reload his own ammo was a rewarding endeavor.
I currently am a certified adjunct automotive instructor at Sinclair community college, and I am thrilled to be with Family Tactical Training.
